Amazon announced Wednesday that its first smartphone, the Fire, would be released in coming months. The phone will operate on the AT&T network and compete with Apple and Samsung. This is a huge step forward for the number one online retailer in the country, but only if they can market it correctly. Some analysts are skeptical that the Fire can compete with the already “lifestyle branded” iPhone. The phone has easy access to Firefly, its built-in shopping feature that could expand Amazon’s cut of the retail business.
