Woman of Excellence: Amy Andrews

Amy Andrews, SVP-Client Leadership, was named a winner this month in the Business Excellence category of the Path to Purchase Institute’s 7th annual Women of Excellence competition. The following is a profile of the qualities and characteristics that earned her the award.

At The Mars Agency, Amy Andrews has guided the team that earned client Tillamook “Vendor of the Year” accolades from Target, led integrated omnichannel marketing for all Campbell Soup brands across retailer customers, helped launch a DEI Council charged with evaluating and refining our work, and co-wrote the agency’s Core Values to reinforce our commitment to inclusivity.

And she accomplished all that in just the last 12 months, a period in which she also began meeting monthly with a core peer group at Chief, a private membership network dedicated to connecting and supporting women executives. Chief members are selected for their executive status, experience level, and “commitment to driving impact and supporting others to change the face of leadership.”

Additional responsibilities and new challenges aren’t exactly new to Amy, however. Over the course of her career, she has been recognized as a leader from both the brand and agency sides of the industry, largely because she proved herself to be a pioneer from both vantage points.

Amy originally joined The Mars Agency in 2007 as a strategic planner in Bentonville, developing strategies at Walmart for two CPG accounts while also handling the retailer as a client. In her “off hours,” she completed the Miami Ad School boot camp for planners and began earning an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

She moved to the client side in 2012 by joining Ubisoft to lead its shopper marketing & insights team through new territory: launching the videogame maker’s first shopper segmentation study, developing its first national shopper promotion, and helping accelerate its nascent eCommerce business — while completing her MBA, by the way. Those efforts earned her recognition among Path to Purchase Institute’s “Who’s Who in Shopper Insights” two years running.

Returning to Mars in 2015, Amy continued delivering “firsts” by co-founding an in-house strategic consultancy, helping open our first international office in London, assisting with initial inroads into Latin America, and then launching our Seattle office while driving exponential growth for a then-budding eCommerce practice. She was named to P2PI”s “Who’s Who in Shopper Marketing Agencies” in 2020, the same year she presented on the Future of Shopper Marketing at the Path to Purchase Digital Expo.

She is now driving innovation as client leader for two of the agency’s most important accounts, where additional recognition from partners like Target are almost certain to follow.
